With the auto corporations' rapid transition to electric vehicles well underway, UAW autoworkers must organize to oust the corporation-appeasing Administration Caucus
Excellent points. Could be made about any union in one way or another. The carpenters union president is infamous for his plan for "wall to wall organizing". This means "organizing" all building trades workers under the Carpenters Union. In a way this sounds positive, until you realize what it really means is bringing workers in other trades in with wages and benefits that undercut the wages of that trade.
your actually kidding right ? only 150k even bothered to vote for the so called direct elections. PEOPLE ARE SICK OF THE BULLSHIT CESSPOOL CALLED THE UAW. HERE AT ktp ONLY 1200 EVEN BOTHERED TO VOTE FOR AN OPEN bARGAINING POSITION. Nothing is going to change...nothing
ok whose going to replace the life time appointed people? so you have so called direct elections whose going to run ??? THE same friends and family thats there now. The UAW is a failed organiztion corrupt from the top to bottom all you need to do is read UAW INC. the triumph of capital and it tells all you need to know. And yes Justin many thousands of people in my local feel and say the same. The AC is going nowhere.
Like I said, nothing is going to change if enough people feel the way you do and choose not to get involved -- which is exactly what the AC wants. I'm not saying that the deck isn't incredibly stacked against reformers, because it is. But I know 100% without a doubt that nothing is going to change unless workers organize to make that happen.
I do not believe the UAW is corrupt from the top to the bottom. I believe we have a lot of "officials" and their lackeys who are corrupt, but I don't believe that the vast majority of UAW workers are. Our problem is that most UAW members are apathetic and choose not to get involved. I get why they feel defeated, but I don't understand why the conclusion is to just lay down and let the AC steamroll everyone.
There will be candidates running against the AC in the IEB elections next year. Who exactly those candidates are, I can't tell you right now because I don't have that information at the moment. I do know UAWD will be running a slate to oppose the AC. I imagine Brian Keller will also run and will have a slate as well. There will be options for the membership. Whether they choose to actually vote.. that is a big question. It appears that a lot of members are willing to let the AC rob them of everything instead instead of becoming active in reforming the UAW so that we at least have a chance to change things.

Well, its definitely not changing if people have the same mindset as you. But your mindset is exactly what the AC is hoping for.
